Tip: If it's available, chose the bumpy cake cupcake. It will not disappoint. At first, I was totally impressed with the variety listed on their website! They had 50! So... my heart sank a bit when there was only 10 flavors on display. BUT- notice that there's still 5 stars here. Because this is what EVERY speciality cupcake boutique should taste like. (Innovative, creamy, surprisingly moist and delicious all within one single bite!) I bought 4 for a friends birthday. Drove four hours home (we were on our way back and made a pit stop here) and the cakes stayed fresh and my word were they scrumptious! I will defiantly visit this place again when I visit traverse city!! Note to management: if there's any contest for cupcakes on the food network... Apply! Or open another one in southeast michigan please! :)

Simply Cupcakes delivered a dozen gorgeous cupcakes to my parents in TC for their anniversary this morning. The delivery fee was more than fair and the employees were all super nice! Thanks for all of your help in surprising my parents - they love the treats!!

Buttercream frosting is supposed to be frosting, not just butter. The taste and texture is like someone added a drop of vanilla extract and a tablespoon of sugar into a tub of Country Crock. I've had better cupcakes from Walmart. Traverse City is a culinary Mecca in the state. Its renown should be expanding but is being held back by free-riders like this. For my money, better dessert can be had at Morsels just up the street, Grand Traverse Pie Company, Potter's Bakery, or Cherry Republic. Never coming back.

Friendly and knowledgable staff, great customer service! Cupcakes are even better! Can't imagine there's a bad one so try them all :) We had the Raspberry Waltz, might be my favorite cupcake ever, and I have had too many to mention lol. Hubby had the Salted Caramel Toffee, almost as delicious ;)

I see a cupcake shop and I must stop.I know I always refer to Trophy in Seattle when I go to other places but that is how I judge them. :) I bought a red dolce vino cupcake. OH. MY. CUPCAKE. WOW. Now I had just had my birthday so I had too many treats to eat which is why I only bought 1 cupcake. That was difficult for me because they all looked so good! I bought the cupcake on Tues and ate it Saturday. It was awesome, even 4 days later. My friend tried the peanut butter cup which I also wanted for myself but I knew I wouldn't get to it before it went to waste. I will most definitely be back to this shop when I am in TC!!!

Oh my goodness can you say the best cupcakes in town at a great price and such wonderful variety as well...you can tell this business takes pride in their cupcakes.

My boyfriend and I got 6 different cupcakes. The cupcake itself was very good. However, the frosting wasn't the greatest. There is room for improvement, but overall, they were alright and worth the try. Also, the staff was very friendly. :)

Try the Lemon Love cupcake: the cake is super moist, and the lemon curd in the center of the cake was delicious.

After watching too many episodes of Cupcake Wars I realize just how lucky we are that the one and only Cupcakery in Traverse City is really super awesome. You won't find any whacked out, disgusting flavors here and nothing is ever too sweet or dense. My personal favorite is the Banana Cream. I also recommend the Lemon Love. At $2.75 per cupcake, it's also super reasonable. They're now carrying Moomers ice cream as well! = ) This is just a happy place.

Yum, yum and yum. Omg, cupcakes, how can you go wrong? Well, they don't go wrong here so you don't have to worry 'bout that. I only tried one flavor, with willpower, key lime. I wanted to write a rhyme about it, because it was that good. The only thing I could come up with was extreme buttercream or obscene buttercream, so I think I'll leave poetry to the pros. Key lime cake delish, bright lime filling umfgh, frosting I approve (not to sweet, but still delish). All of this is subject to opinion, I am sure. Cake was a good texture (not too dry). Flavors may vary. Clerk said they alternate key lime & lemon flavors daily. Also on display were red velvet, pumpkin spice, black tie, some sort of pb, chocolate, and others. Now, I would really like to see a chai cupcake (will have to see if they have a suggestion box?). For almost 3$ a pop, it won't be a regular affair, but the tastebuds tell me this one's a keeper. There is a bakery opening like 3 or 4 shops down from their location, so I hope that they both can draw enough business. Time will tell, I guess. Lastly, the seating is a funky but fun, I think they might cater more to carry-out. p.s. Active military buy one, get one free everyday (limit 6 per day, per person). Seniors, 15% discount everyday. I think I'll get my dad to buy me one next time.... p.p.s Should you have the time/funds/friends to share with, I'd recommend buying 3 or 4 so you can taste multiple kinds. Now that is a tasting party.

Amazing cupcakes and they have Moomers. Will definitely return for a sugar fest. I sadly missed out on some of the flavors I wanted to try so get there early for the best options. There were no macarons also so I don't know if it is only on certain days. We were there early afternoon. We tried the yellow cake with chocolate frosting, champagne, red velvet, and vanilla. My fav was the yellow/chocolate. That chocolate frosting is some of the best I have ever had. So good. The only disappointment is that you cannot taste the cream cheese in the red velvet frosting so that is not a real red velvet. It says it is in there but if you can't taste it, no good. The girl working at the counter was nice and the décor is very cute.

Two cupcakes eaten immediately, four went home. Holy. Freaking. Cupcakes. My mouth sobbed of happiness. The red velvet was to die for. My friend who is training for a bikini competition even fell off the bandwagon to eat them. She scarfed down three! This place is sweetened heaven. The frosting melts in your mouth.

Absolutely the best cupcakes I've ever had. The lady was so super friendly and everything is made fresh everyday from scratch. You can call and order ahead. They also make cakes. I didn't see any, but I asked. I've always seen it, but never went in and now I'm glad I did. I will definitely go there again. I got the key lime pie, peanut butter cup, red velvet, and I forgot the other 2 chocolate one names, but they were all so fabulous. I have a saying " they are worth being fat over" if they are so good.

This is a must-see when visiting Traverse City. Seriously. You'll be missing out if you skip it. Our family spent a few days in Traverse City as a quick getaway from our home in Chicago. Our time in Simply Cupcakes was a little accidental, since we strolled in just to burn some time before our dinner reservation. As soon as we walked in, we were brightly greeted by Maggie who, for the record, is one of the nicest people I've ever met. We ended up chatting with her for a while because she made us feel so insanely welcome. I'm talking "actually-want-to-get-to-know-you" conversation, not "talking-to-you-so-you-buy-more-of-my-stuff" small talk. Because she was SO sweet, we were ready to buy 4 more cupcakes on our way out...only to find that she had already boxed 4 for us, on the house. Seriously. Whenever we come back to TC, we'll definitely be hitting up Simply Cupcakes. Even if we don't get freebies next time, we deeply appreciated the lovely and warm service. Plus, the cupcakes were delicious! So light and fluffy, not overwhelmingly sweet or anything (the Moomers ice cream was really good too!). As a Chicagoan, I've been to my fair share of cupcake stores, and SImply Cupcakes is definitely my favorite in the country now!

I just HAD to stop during our recent vacay to TC. I wasn't thrilled by any of the flavors of the day. I checked the website and was pumped to try a stout, butterfinger, mocha, or chocolate covered strawberry. No dice:(. I chose a lemon blueberry, dreamsicle, cookies and cream, and the boys all chose peanut butter cup. Lemon blueberry was decent. There was a tasty blueberry filling and coarse sugar sprinkles and fresh blueberries on top of the fluffy, creamy buttercream. The cake had good texture. The pb cup was chocolatey and peanut buttery, but could use more peanut butter flavor. Cookies and cream was decent, filled with cookies and cream buttercream. The dreamsicles was slightly orangey, but the frosting held the flavor. I was wanting more orange zest in the cake, as described online. The shop itself was neat and decorated very well. The colors were bright and inviting. The cupcakes were priced right at $2.75 for one, but $2.50 for 2-11. They don't have set hours, but stay open til the last cake is sold. They open @ 10AM. I will return in hopes of encountering new flavors on our next trip.

Cupcakes seem to be all the rage with the ladies in Chicago at the moment and I can't say that I was all that excited to go into this place. The atmosphere was eclectic but homey. As another reviewer noted more causal seating would be a plus but they get bonus points for the kids table. My wife and I have had a few overpriced forgettable cupcakes from fancy places and that's what I was expecting. While the cupcakes weren't cheap, they were amazing! We had a triple chocolate one, key lime, and peanut butter. They where all supermoist and amazingly delicious. I will be looking forward to stoping back here again--just writing this review is making me want another key lime. They're open until the last cupcake is sold, so call before you drop by in the PM.

Purchased my first cupcake today. What a delightful and delicious surprise. We have lived here for 6 months and didnt know this amazing treat was down the street. If you are in Traverse City dont miss this Jewel. You wont be disappointed. I highly recommend the lemon and bumpy cake.

The cupcakes were decent with a lighter Italian frosting, but the stars are for the french macarons. I only bought two macarons at first, having learned from past macaron disappointments elsewhere, but they were really moist and not too sweet. I went back the next day and bought 18 more, hehe. Thank goodness they still honor a military discount (buy 1 get 1 free, max 6)! Also, they offered free coffee with every purchase when I was there on Fri.

I had some cupcakes from Simply Cupcakes for the first time yesterday. A coworker bought 12the cupcakes on their BOGO day. We cut a few into quarters so we could try different flavors. They were fantastic! Very moist and flavorful. I tried a banana one, red velvet, double chocolate and bumpy. My favorites were the red velvet and bumpy. I'm definitely taking my kids there to pick out a cupcake.

This is the only cupcake shop of its kind and its only in Traverse City...we had to try it. I got the red velvet and my hubby got the triple chocolate; they were both delicious! The frosting was smooth and fluffy, atop a moist and flavorful cupcake. They have a chalkboard featuring all of their flavors for the day. The bakery fits right into the "old time" charm of Traverse City, with a modern concept of exclusively selling cupcakes. Oh, and the cupcakes aren't pure sugar either, which is what I find with most cupcake bakeries. Definitely worth visiting!

Buttercream frosting was perfection! Service was fantastic. Free coffee with cupcake didn't hurt, either. She even fresh brewed more for me.

The cupcakes are original and fresh. Decor charming and bright. Staff was knowledgeable and charming! What more can you ask for? We would definitely go back and I recommend it to anyone visiting TC.

Being from Chicago, I'd call myself a bit of a cupcake snob since I often visit the various shops; Sweet Mandy B's, Molly's, Sugar Bliss and Flirty Cupcakes. TC needed a cupcake shop, so I'm glad to see Simply Cupcakes is in business! Simply Cupcakes is off to a good start, but they do have a few areas I'd suggest improving. The interior is cute and simply decorated, but I'd recommend adding seating. They have a unique variety of cupcake flavors and display them nicely. We tried the Black Tie cupcake. The cupcake had good chocolaty flavor, but was dry. The buttercream icing tasted whipped and wasn't the savory flavor I expected. Simply Cupcakes has a great program that if you reuse your box, you'll get 5% off your next order. Cupcakes are reasonable priced at $2.75/each. The location is great since it's right across the street from Bubba's and down the black from Paesanos. I will be back next time I'm in town to try a different flavor. *Immediately after I wrote this review, a Simply Cupcakes employee wrote me inviting me to come back and try their cupcakes again. I was very impressed with their prompt response. Will definitely go back when I'm in TC again!
